International Conference on Decision-Making for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (DEMSME 2025)

22-23 May 2025

The International Conference on Decision-Making for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (DEMSME) is a meeting of professionals from universities and businesses interested in the theory and applications of decision-making research using informatics, mathematics, business economics and management, and marketing approaches in the practice of SMEs. The conference contributions will be published in the conference proceedings submitted to the Web of Science. Selected papers will be published in our partner journals indexed in the Web of Science and/or Scopus or in an edited monograph in IGI Global, USA. The proceedings of DEMSME 2019 were indexed in the Web of Science. The 2021 and 2023 editions are still under the indexation review process. The 10th International Scientific Conference on Business Administration, organized in collaboration with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey, will be a special part of the DEMSME conference.

Decision-making processes are at the heart of running a business. But for every potential profit, there is a possible downside risk, and there is the fear of failure with forced choice. In other words, the more important a future decision is, the harder it becomes to decide which way to go. Considering the consequences of investing in a new product, engaging a partner, hiring more staff, or expanding your operation, data analysis can help. However, it may also lead to analysis paralysis. This is the reason why rational deliberation and faster and more intuitive insights should be used. Doing so through a process with defined steps can lead to better outcomes, and an interdisciplinary approach might be useful too.

The main goal of the conference is to support a wide discussion on the decision-making process from an interdisciplinary and cross-regional perspective. Every participant has the opportunity to exchange experience with colleagues from various countries, universities, and different business areas and to get inspiration for further creative research.

The best paper will be awarded an ECSB membership for one year.
